Keisen Award Night

East Grinstead's Keisen Judo Club held their annual Awards Night in the Wallis Centre on Friday the 15th of May. The club switched from it's usual venue of Chequer Meade to run a much more informal evening combining both the presentation of awards and a social event for both parents and children, culminating in a disco for all ages.

The evening started with a review of the year through a multimedia presentation prepared by Coach Tim Draper. The roll of honour was very impressive with over 20 players having won medals at competitions during the year. Tim explained how the club had developed during the year and had introduce a Kano Club section especially for judo players under the age of 7. Before the main awards started, the Kano Club members were presented with certificates and their first badges in recognition of excellent attendance.

Jackie Cooper, Keisen's President, and the Youth Worker based at the Wallis Centre said a few word of introduction then presented the awards to the successful players. The awards, given in detail below, range from the Best Senior Player through to the Most Promising newcomer with the Players Player award going to the player with the most votes from their peers.

The awards were rounded off with the presentation of a bouquet of flowers to Club Secretary, Jo Draper, as thanks for all the effort she puts into keeping the club running smoothly during the year.

The evening was rounded off with a cold buffet, raffle and the disco, A lesson for next year is that smoke machines, fire alarms and a fire evacuation in pouring rain don't dampen the spirits of the Keisen Judo Club members but we might need a stock of umbrellas.
