Keisen Judo Club have been picking up accolades across the
country.
At the British Schools Judo Association Individual Championships
in Sheffield, Jessica Plumtree earned a silver medal for
St. Wifrid's in her first competitive outing since Christmas
in the year 8/9 girls -57kg catagory. James Draper (Imberhorne
School) collected a silver medal in the young mens -55kg
group. His sister Elizabeth (Imberhorne School) fought in
a very closely contended pool wher the decision went to
a score count-back and, even though she had beaten the eventual
gold medallist, she had to settle for bronze.
At the Classmaster Easter competition Louie Slocombe won
all of his fights to take gold. Maxim Bordessoule, who has
only been doing judo for four months got a silver, and Daniel
Morrissey and Mark Skellett got bronze.
Olivia Trueman deserves a special mention for getting not
only a bronze medal but also the Spirit of Judo Award.
Ben Fletcher, returning to competitive judo for the first
time in four years, managed an excellent silver medal. There
was also gold for Lyle Slocombe, silver for Tom Leighton
and bronze for JJ Learnihan and Chris Cummings.
