Welsh Under 20 Age Band Open

Building on her brother’s success in the GB Trials the previous weekend, Elizabeth Draper turned in a winning performance at the Welsh Open in Cardiff on the 18th January. Fighting in band B at the two-day event, Elizabeth overcame high quality opposition to win a place on the rostrum and receive a bronze medal, which was presented to her by Welsh judo legend Neil Adams.

Coach Tim Draper was pleased to see her return to winning ways and remarked that it was the perfect performance to start the year. Elizabeth is striving to win a place in the England squad and will be competing at the Midland Open and the North West Open, both squad identification events, in January and early February. He added that this result shows she is hitting form at exactly the right time for these important identification events.
